The Buddha Says : The past should not be sought after,The future not desired. The past is gone,And the future has not come,Only the present is here. This is the essence of wisdom,Immovable, unshakable,Realizing this, one should diligently cultivate.

Once again, Vietnam was hit by Durian Tropical Storm on December 5, 2006, the ninth storm of the year in Vietnam. In May, hundreds of Vietnamese fishermen lost their lives in a typhoon named Chanchu. In October, another typhoon, Xangsane, killed at least 70 and destroyed or submerged hundreds of thousands of homes when it struck the central coastal city of Danang, and the provinces of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam, despite early warnings and preparations. According to the final statistics announced, the typhoon caused property losses of 654.1 million U.S dollars. Wherever typhoon, tropical storm passed, devastation followed, and houses made of solid brick and cement were flattened within minutes. People living here will probably have to wait a long time before they can return to a quiet, normal life. (Pictures of Xangsane Typhoon 2006 Relief below)
HANOI, Vietnam - Vietnam’s death toll from Tropical Storm Durian rose to 59 on Wednesday as authorities began cleaning up the country’s south coast where more than 120,000 houses were destroyed, officials said.

The worst damage was in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, where at least 34 people were killed and more than 450 others injured, most of them in collapsed homes. ”The death toll could rise,” said Pham Nhat Quang, a spokesman for the provincial military command. “Many of the victims are in very bad condition.”
The news in itself is like a nightmare.  But this nightmare is the reality.  Once again, please join us to give a helping hand to these unfortunate flood victims. Your compassionate heart and generous contribution will ease the suffering for those who are in distress and bring peace to all those involved.

Destruction after Xansane typhoon in Hue and Danang City

The population of Nghe-An province was assembled on the dams. They lived in tents with their farm animals during the heavy rains and floods caused by typhoon Xangsane.  They had to live in such condition for ten days, with the helping hands of their neighbors.
